NON-PLAYER CHARACTERS
Nocturnal |
Need I even explain? The Nords and the Cyrods have their Divines, but I'm a man of tangible results, and like most Reachfolk, I prefer a god who answers. Nocturnal is not one to be spurned, but I think I've provided the same results I myself demand to see, and the Lady Luck rewards fairly, in my eyes. To me, there is no better power to follow than hers, and she seems to look on me fondly.
Hircine |
To say our relations to him are... touchy, would be an understatement. I've hidden prized wolves who rejected his gift from his sight within my shadows, committed theft of one of his Champions from his sphere to the gain of my own Prince, and only been forgiven after sending the stolen souls of the Gray Host's lycans back to the Hunting Grounds where they belong in the wake of the Harrowstorms. I'm not fool enough to think I'm exempt from earning his ire once more, but for now at least, we tread on neutral ground again.
Ard Caddach of Markarth |
A shrewd and dangerous man, in his own right. I can see why such a person has come to be recognized as a "King of the Reach", even if not everyone agrees or chooses to recognize it. Its rumored he threw his entire clan to their deaths from the very walls of Markarth for opposing his rule and wanting to return to Cyrodiil to chase gold and glory and the throne, as the Longhouse Emperors before him did. I can certainly believe it. It wasn't exactly within my plans to work under his employ after the Gray Host was dealt with, but apparently I underestimated just how much the man hears and how well-informed he truly is, if his hints to hearing the name of my Clan before I ever created this "mercenary company" is anything to go by, and its not as though a man of his station can so easily be made to disappear. I'm not quite ready to bring my birth Clan's existence into the light, so I suppose I'll play to his game for a little while. There are worse things than to work as an agent for a ruler of lands and people I plan to invest in and protect anyway.
Jarl Svana of Solitude |
The daughter of the Wolf of Solitude, and a hundred times the queen that her filth of a father ever was. She's still young, but she holds experience and devotion some Jarls will never have even after a hundred years of ruling. I'll admit though, I never thought she'd go so far as to help usher in an age of peace not just between the East and West, but the Reach as well, however long that lasts. She's truly something. Perhaps not as eager as she herself is, but I enjoy our talks when we have a moment to ourselves. Its certainly more pleasant being her liaison than it is the Ard's.
ALLIES
Dannoch Thousand-Scars |
A man who admittedly did not leave a good impression on our first meet, but who I'm glad to call friend and ally now. Its not just his stature that allows him to stand out in a crowd, nor his crudeness, but also a good head on his shoulders that I find most are quick to turn to when they need a leader. I find we often see eye-to-eye on many things, especially when it comes to the worth of those fighting around us, and that he's usually willing to say that which many of us are thinking but most won't dare to voice. Twice we've fought together now, though I'd hardly compare the second war to the first, and he and his lot are ones I'd gladly throw in with again should the need arise.
Ayashi Faolgol |
"Fox". Ever an appropriate moniker for one such as her. She's as clever as she is mysterious, as much an enigma as I like to consider myself to the average person, and one who seems to know the lay of any land she treads. I'm not certain the exact path she walks, except that of a hunter, but I know she has a talent for stealth that would make most thieves jealous, and the skill of art put to paper. I'll admit - she makes me curious the way that few others do, and her company is pleasant enough each time I see her. It'll be interesting to see where our kindred paths lead. |
Uela the Bloodfeather |
A witch of the Stonebreakers for whom I have the utmost respect. I found her to be respectable and sensible the first time we met at Hroldan Ring, but the Nozarga war was where I truly saw all that she was capable of, and that she has better instincts and more skill than most. It was an honor to fight alongside her then, and it would be an honor to do so again.
Wil |
Without meaning insult, Wil is someone I would describe as somewhat of a simple man. In some ways, that allows him to be more clever than most of the rest of us. He's the sort who most often acts without malice, and to be honest, I wonder if he even has it in him. I don't know that I'd call him pure, exactly, but he's an honest and straightforward sort, as well as reliable when the need arises and too loyal towards his kin for anyone to even think to question, even if he did blow up a crow with explosives.
Durrin |
An interesting Reachman and shapeshifter. I don't think I've ever met a wereboar before him, but there's a first for everything. We definitely benefited from his help during the Nozarga conflict, and he's someone I enjoy speaking with well enough, though I don't think I've seen him much since that conflict. Hopefully all is well.
Vaylen Karia |
Someone who's been a valuable ally to us for a long time now, only shortly after I left the Commission, I believe. She's quite savvy at the information trade and being in-the-know, in my experience. It helps that she's a fellow appreciator of Nocturnal, one who is undeniably powerful, and one of the few who knows about my Champion status with the Mistress of Night.
Lymenil Karia |
One of Vaylen's number, but a capable enough person in her own right, and likewise someone with a deep devotion to Nocturnal. She's one of the few I trust with my status as a Daedric Champion, and I haven't any regrets with that decision. She's quite personable, and its an honest shame she and Vaylen are already dedicated to leading their own faction, but its just as well that our groups are closely aligned and well-acquainted.
Werrak |
A strong orc with a good head on his shoulders, and a capable leader in the thick of battle. Uncertain as it was at the time, I'm glad the Nozarga war didn't claim his life, and I would certainly feel confident supporting him in a fight if it ever came down to it again.
Aaron White |
A capable warrior with good sense. We've worked together a few times during the Nozarga conflict, and I never found myself frustrated with his decisions or needing to watch his actions for slip-ups, which I can't say for everyone I dealt with during that campaign, especially where Nords and Imperials were concerned. He has enough of my respect that I'd gladly fight alongside him again.
Chonwick |
Thrug Bloodtusk's successor, and much more fit for the role of leadership if I'm honest. Less bravado, more substance. Circumstances of late haven't allowed us to cross paths in some time, but I'm sure his Company is doing well under him, and I hope the burden of leadership doesn't weigh too heavily.
Towhee |
Undeniably, the most fit person for the rank of Wing I've ever trained, and perhaps that I ever will. The Clan is weaker without her, though I'm sure this would come as a surprise, and I do miss her chipper disposition and sharp inquisitiveness. Perhaps one day she'll fly back to us, but if not, I hope she's well wherever she goes.
L'vitsa |
Once a Feather to our Clan, I can't really say where she's gone, though I suspect I know why. Its a shame to see her go her own way, after surviving the strife that almost tore our group apart and showing her loyalty, but in the end it can't be helped. My crows have brought back no word or sign of her, but wherever she is, I can only hope for the best.
"Spera" Sparrow-Wing |
If I'm honest, I'm not surprised she didn't last long with us. Mercenary work is a dangerous trade, and she was quite young to be joining in on such. Still, I can't say that I have any complaints about her, beyond that, but its probably for the best she's gone her own separate way to live out her youth somewhere safer than with us.
Rhaiyen |
Someone who trouble seems to find often, perhaps to an unfair degree. I'm not sure where he's gone these days, or if it matters. Rhai was never one who liked to be anywhere other than well-hidden and undetected even when we spoke regularly, but we both understood the value of stealth and intimidation, and he did provide the Out I was looking for to justify leaving the Commission at the time. Perhaps our paths will cross again, or perhaps they won't, but he is always welcome here no matter how far his road takes him.
Kelrac D'Marius |
Arrogant of me, perhaps, but one of the few strategists I see as equal to myself. In some ways, perhaps surpassing it. Its difficult to say for sure where each of us lies in that regard, but it can be said without doubt he's someone who makes for a powerful ally and a deadly foe. Lucky for each of us then that we're playing on the same side. There's some curiosities about him, things that suggest he's from somewhere far beyond Nirn, maybe even the Mundus itself, though exactly where that place might be, I can only speculate. Events over the past while have not allowed our paths to cross often of late, but I can almost be sure we'll work together again.
Talia Valarest |
An interesting woman, who Reno complains incessantly about at the very hint she might be near. She is certainly an eccentric one, but powerful and capable, as I've seen myself a few times before. I trust her well enough as an ally, but she's also someone that I think is wise to keep a certain level of distance with all the same.
Ela Ravithka |
Once my Capo within the Commission, and someone who I've come to share a complex history with, as well as come to realize that I'm not sure even she fully knows herself any more than I do. I was glad to offer my Clan as a safe place to escape to when she wanted to leave the Commission, rather than turn me over as a spy once she learned, but where her path has led her since then, I cannot say. Whatever it is she's looking for and needs to be whole, I hope she finds it.
Val'duka Shadowclaw |
An ally of chance, though I suppose that's to be expected by those who align themselves closely with Nocturnal, its only really through Kelrac's alliance of factions that I happened to meet him, and for better or worse, that meeting has changed this Clan, not least of all, myself and Reno. The path to becoming a Champion of Nocturnal was always one I was set on, but it was Val'duka and his tribe's customs that truly set things into motion. I wonder where he's gone. All known trace that remains of him and his tribe are the abandoned grounds where they once lived, and the Key that's passed through Vaylen and Lym's possession, and now into mine.
ACQUAINTANCES
Andra Raven-Eyes |
A Mystic of the Reach. To be honest, I'm not sure what to think of him, and I feel he is similar towards me. A bit of a critical man, blunt, and with little time for nonsense. I can respect that, and his convictions to the Reach itself, though I think to say we will ever quite be "friendly" may be asking a lot.
Kelromirr One-Eye |
Someone who served as a General or Grand Commander of a sort during the Nozarga war. Honestly, I know very little about him as a person outside of the battlefield, but I can't speak of any complaints working under him. I'm not sure how that conflict would have resulted if not for his organization and leadership, and he knew how to listen when a viable strategy was proposed that others often doubted. I can see why most turned to him to make sure everything went as it needed.
Aka'ri |
Someone whom I've only met a couple of times, but who seems to have disdain for my second-in-command, Reno. If I recall correctly, she's close to Reno's nephews, Lavi and Deak, and there's some tense history there, though for the life of me I cannot recall the specifics, oddly enough.
Artus Briarhide |
I don't have much experience with the man, but I've fought alongside him enough to know that he's a capable warrior, one who helped me strike a decisive blow against the Nozarga's mages who controlled those monstrosities their cult created. He seems like a level-headed sort, and someone whose company I would enjoy more often if I could find it.
Takeel |
Not dead, surprisingly. I suppose assuming as much was on me. It takes more than a tumble to kill a vampire. I can't really say he's very personable, but curiously, he's an Argonian who seems to embrace and respect the ways of the Reach, and in turn he's welcome within it, regardless of what some outsiders would like to try and impress. I haven't seen him around in quite some time, but last I knew, he still walked among the Stonebreakers and their friends.
Zephyrus Silvar |
The once self-declared "Lord of Fell's Run", though to my knowledge he has long since retired that title. I have many mixed feelings about him. I don't know that I would equate him to a 'bad person', but he also brought to us no end of misery and trouble when he turned the quiet town where we headquartered into a tourist attraction for all manner of vagabonds and troublemakers with no respect for Law or authority. I suppose karma has already done its work there, with how they spit on his name as well at the end, but it doesn't change what all we had to put up with for the sake of his titles and posturing.
Fianna |
The leader of Pack Hæder, whom I haven't seen in some while since she left Kelrac's alliance, though I have a great respect for her. Last I knew, her pack was thriving well, with many numbers behind her name, all respectable and capable. To be honest, I've not found good reason for our paths to cross again, and with how elusive they are, I'm not certain I could find them anyway, but I hope her and her pack are thriving just as well as I saw before.
Hel |
A curious Reachwoman with a curious ability. I've seen many lycans and shifters in my time, but none with a form quite like her own. She's an easy enough person to get along with, with a gentle voice to match, but it seems that our paths are simply too far apart to cross often.
Gorthal |
The Chieftain of Clan Grumaar. Unfortunately, I've had few dealings with him even when in the thick of conflict, but I've seen him about, and more often that of his people. A strong clan that fights well and seems like it may have solid leadership. I did extend an invitation for an alliance of clans at one point, but if I'm being honest with myself, I think it was of little interest to him. Still, I wouldn't protest the chance to see his clan in action once again.
Garron |
Dare I say, I don't think I've ever seen such a small orc, with such a big mouth. Its no wonder that he and Arata butted heads during our campaign against the Nozarga. On the former, at least, I can somewhat relate, being that my own stature is nothing impressive alongside other Reachman. He's a curious sort, who seems just as ready to complain as he is to boast, but I wasn't disappointed with the skill he displayed. He was certainly one who knew how to stand out in a crowd, even take command when it suited his fancy, for however much that's worth.
Angra Stoneseeker |
Someone I've seen around the Reach here and there, often enough at the Ring in times past, once even within the walls of my Temple. I'm neutral towards them, though they seem a tad critical towards me. I suppose because to them, I don't speak the way a true Reachman should, in their eyes.
Renan Skyshield |
A skilled enough scout and infiltrator, one I had thought might even do well in our group, though it seems our Reach roots and daedric leanings are more than enough for him to turn his nose up at. Unfortunate, but nothing to be done for it.
UNCERTAIN
Deak Bookman |
Someone I would like to consider an ally, but I'm not sure that I can. There's no malice to him when we see each other, for whatever moments he comes to visit, but there is a strange haze over my memory regarding him and his clan. I've always been someone of impeccable recollection, especially regarding allies and familiar faces, but there's a lot there that's simply missing and unreachable. I feel he has something to do with it that he's not telling, so I need to treat him with caution. If he's in some way a threat, I'll deal with it when I need to, but for the time being I'll simply play it by ear and remain neutral.
Lavi Bookman |
They may be twins, but he and Deak couldn't be farther apart. I've only met the man once, a long time ago, but he had little interest in us, and lacks the same warmth that Deak possesses. I know that he and Reno have some sort of tense history or a grudge, but I'm fuzzy on all of the specifics. One thing I'm fairly sure of is that there must be something around him similar to Deak that casts a fog over my memory.
Marina |
Someone who came to us by way of chasing reputation. She was excitable enough and wanted to be part of the things we do, though she never wanted to officially join and she never divulged what obligations held her back. Unfortunately, I'm wary to allow her too near to my Clan after a certain incident between her, Kytes, and Arata, for which she seemed the most at fault, but some time has passed since then and she is still young. Perhaps she'll have grown a little more wise and dependable since the last I saw her, though I would like to know exactly where her loyalties lie.
Lavaness |
A former member of our Clan, now long since moved on after the death of her former mate Dar'ri and the reclamation of her pack and pups. I've always considered her a dependable member of our group, but after all that she's gone through, I don't blame her for going her own way. Perhaps our paths might cross again. This world is not so large to discount the possibility.
Thrug Bloodtusk |
The infamous Orc chief who set the downfall of the Commission into motion, although I wouldn't give him so much credit as to claim he was the final nail or the only cause. For all his charisma and ability to rally people together, I don't know that I'd quite call him a good leader, if his history is anything to go by. A bit of a simple-minded and narrowly focused Orc, but the waves he created did lead to some good things and opportunities I may have otherwise gone without. All the same, at least he had better judgment in picking a second-in-command with Chonwick than he did with Clark, and finally laid Clan Bloodtusk to rest for good when Chonwick succeeded him.
Nikolas Vokun |
The only leader worth his salt when the Commission still existed, if I'm honest, and lucky enough the one I worked under when I joined. I'm not really sure where we stood in the end, or what happened to him after the Family fell apart, but I can't deny that the man has my utmost respect. He's someone I would like to work with again, given the chance, though I get the feeling our past parting was final and that his presence is one I won't see going forward.
Sin-dro-Xithis |
Allegedly some god of death and spirits from far away lands, if his word is to be believed. Having seen his power in action though, I'm apt to believe it. His aid was critical in helping us to resolve some aspects of Reno's curse, but if I'm honest, his is a path I'm not eager to intersect again any time soon if I don't have the need to.
Hvitt V |
Someone who I would more than like to regard as an enemy, but I'm not so sure where my final verdict stands with recent events. She was first mentioned to me as someone Arata fears and despises, and now she's carrying his child. I suppose what I decide will depend on what Arata chooses to do.
ENEMIES
Clarkhovus Sagewind |
Someone I probably should have killed while I had the chance, but whose parting from us left little enough consequence for me to bother with hunting him down now. At one point, I thought differently of him, and that I was putting my trust where it belonged. Ultimately though, his leaving us was probably a good thing, and most of his damage was done unto Bloodtusk instead of us. For as much effort as he put into overthrowing Thrug and trying to act as a capable leader, it never carried him very far, seeing as his name has become completely irrelevant since then.
Arata |
A traitor, but one I always saw coming, if I'm honest. A shame, given his profound talents, but disloyalty and threats cannot be tolerated, least of all when used to declare war on those who gave him a place and a chance. We will find him, and he will die for his hubris, make no mistake on that. |
DECEASED
Emmanuel Praven |
To be honest, I barely knew the man. I'm not sure he would have had it any other way. But what I do know, is that he was someone who gave pieces of himself, for the sake of others. Perhaps a bit too literally. Still, I have him to thank for saving Reno's life during the Nozarga war. It doesn't really surprise me that he came to his end sacrificing himself for another, and for that, Wil is able to walk again, though I know the entire affair leaves bitterness in his heart. Still, Emmanuel's sacrifice is one that has my utmost respect. No one can question his conviction to give everything he has to the Reach.
Dar'ri |
The first blood I ever spilled to protect this Branch Clan from one of its own, and unfortunately not the last. Its not as though it was entirely unexpected, with how he began to bare his fangs at those we took fresh under our wing without discretion, and then soon enough on those who knew him better, but disappointing all the same. We may have had to put him down to protect Lava and the rest of the Clan, but I had a certain respect for him right up to the end. His strength and abilities helped carry this Clan far and made it what it is today, but there is no room for threats from within, especially not one with as much power as he possessed.
Jaedrick Steelheart |
A treacherous snake that I should have seen coming and dealt with sooner. Chalk it up to my own naive hopes and willing blindness to what stood before me in favor of a potential I wanted to see. If his "curse" was the only thing standing in our way, perhaps I could have made it work, but you cannot change the very nature of a man such as that, whose weight constantly strained the very seams of our unity and almost destroyed us more than once. The strife I made this Clan endure to tolerate it all was unacceptable, and its not a mistake I will ever repeat. Nor is it a burden I allowed him to inflict on any others. Not with the secrets he still held when he drove a stake through the heart of this Clan.
Calia |
Had I known how much damage a fresh face with no power to the Clan to speak of could do in such a short amount of time, I'd have never let her near my Clan or killed her on the doorstep. Perhaps I give her too much credit. Perhaps it was just the time when she arrived. Regardless, she once was a fatal spark, now snuffed forever more. She so desperately wanted to die for a destructive man she only just met, so I obliged her wish.
Whisk |
I'm not sure what end I expected to get from a talentless thief caught and offered a place with us instead of a night in a jail cell. Reno had never liked him much, but I had tried to trust him and give a fair enough chance. I suppose I should have tried to listen to his instincts more. Reno has rarely failed me in that regard. Still, I didn't think he would choose to stab us in the back alongside Jaedrick and that woman. A fatal error on my part, but one since remedied, and a lesson I won't soon forget.
