Personality
Quiet. Difficult to read. Passive. Private. Alekt’s mother and wife joke he was “born too serious”.
He speaks in soft monotones and shows little outward emotion in most instances, not often speaking unless something needs to be said, finding little use for small-talk. This was especially true in the early years of his "Branch Clan"s formation, though he's put more effort into being talkative recently, even if he often falls short anyway when he runs out of business to discuss. While he's relaxed some with experience, he still addresses most instances in a formal, guarded manner when not among company he trusts, and prefers to be working on a task or job over socializing.
Alekt never smiles or laughs like most, though he might give a soft snort or crack a ghost of a smirk on occasion, most notably with those he feels truly comfortable with. Likewise, it’s near-impossible to rise Alekt to anger or shows of aggression, and Alekt near never makes direct threats, preferring to catch someone unaware when he means to do them any serious harm.
Its easy to say that he's a busy-body and an intelligent strategist, always calculating every situation through quiet observation and subtle maneuvering. He prefers talking things out over violence, but he’s not above using force when a situation demands, striking quick and true when he chooses to act.
Preferring to be overly-cautious and abhorring recklessness, Alekt takes the protection of his branch Clan very seriously, and often overworks to keep it running and safe, though he usually does so out of sight of the rest and doesn’t let exhaustion show around any but the highest, most trusted ranks. Even then, Alekt isn't one to tolerate fussing.
Having spent many years as the primary Clanmaster of a group that has seen faces change frequently, his experience as a mercenary leader has most definitely shaped him as a person and his outlook on the world.
In some ways, these changes are good, more easily able to connect with many people on a personal level and understand where they're coming from. In other ways, the burden of leadership and many betrayals from those less inclined to loyalty has left him with doubts and unseen scars he holds close to the chest, rarely expressing them even with those closest to him.
When it comes to loyalty, there are few who would go the same distance to protect and guide those he considers one of his own, but its to that same end that he has very little tolerance for treachery, and would snuff out those who threaten the people who remain at his side in any way. Suffice to say, he has had to act on those convictions and get his hands dirty against people he formerly trusted a great deal, something he holds more regret than pride in doing.
Alekt generally maintains a clean-shaven appearance and face, which keeps him looking younger and more boy-like at first glance than he actually is, especially given his short stature. Its not simply a preference for him, but somewhat of a strategy, since the juxtaposition of his physical appearance compared with his demeanor and how he speaks and behaves often leaves others guessing exactly how old and experienced he is, which he can swing to his advantage in many different directions and scenarios.
Ultimately, the name of the game for him in all scenarios is to be the one people cannot predict or see coming, perfectly embodying a devout follower of the Mistress of Mystery.

History
Originally born to a little-known Reach Clan dwelling deep underground, where even most Reachfolk dare not tread out of either fear, respect, or disdain for the Dwemer trickery that lurks below ground, and the lack of an open sky above their heads. Though some rumors of that clan still linger in old texts or in rare corners of Reach fable, even most of the Vateshrans have forgotten the tales of these elusive people, who have slipped so far into obscurity that its a question whether they exist at all.
Alekt found his first breaths among just such a Clan, who made their home deep within Blackreach and the places where the veil between Nirn and the Evergloam were thin: the Kråke Clan.
First-born to his mother, and second-born to his father, Alekt was raised his entire life alongside his half-brother, Protem. The youngest of his particular family among the Clan, Alekt became first-in-line to succeed his birth Clan's leadership and serve their Hagraven matriarch when Protem went blind at a young age. The Matriarch spoke of Protempor having a different destiny, as he was gifted with clairvoyance and a strong aptitude for magic.
Regardless, Protem’s blindness was not a heavy burden, as the Clan made their homes and much of their travel through the darkest of places where light was of little advantage, often competing with Falmer and other deep-dwelling creatures.
Alekt was very close to his half-brother, and the two were rarely separable, learning to find their way through deep caves and tunnels not lit by the crystals and fauna of Blackreach through touch and sound until they could navigate easily through memory alone. They had some, but few, dealings with above-ground Reach tribes on occasion, though most often they only saw them from afar.
Though quiet and not very social, Alekt was not without his interests and exploratory nature. He often busied himself with learning different crafts, mentally mapping areas he went through and dreaming ahead to unexplored possibilities.
Alekt’s father, the current Clan head, was a strict and ruling force, but never cruel to his sons, who took to his lessons of leadership and responsibility with great reception and were trained early to need little discipline to get things done. Alekt’s mother was largely loving and patient, much softer than the rough edges of their father and encouraged many of Alekt’s more unusual ideas. Among the other Clansmen that Alekt was closest to were Hartvig, Spyttebrann, and Jaktfalk.
The Clan had been largely reclusive since long before Alekt or Protem were born, avoiding contact with most outsiders, save for the occasional interaction with hunters or Reach tribes on small-scale basis’, and often killed those who learned too much of the larger Clan’s existence in order to remain hidden from the world.
Alekt grew into an interest of branching out, learning about places and people beyond the range of his own and potentially one day bringing the main Clan out of hiding when he succeeds his father, a proposal he brought forward time and again. When he was eighteen, he was granted leave from the Clan to pursue his interests, but he was sent alone and without the aid of his Clan, save for his wife Spyttebrann, who chose to follow him on her own.
Alekt spent several months on his own learning the different lands and people, before starting to form the branch Clan when he was nineteen in 2E 586, presenting it to others as a mere mercenary faction looking to expand, rather than a means for him to expand his knowledge and learn about outsiders.
Alekt has led the branch Clan as a mercenary company for three successive years throughout Bangkorai, Rivenspire, and Northern Elsweyr where they assisted with the early Dragon Crisis until the Dragonguard formed in Pellitine.
He first officially became a Champion of Nocturnal during New Life of 2E 587, and less than a year later, put that newfound power to use playing a critical role in defeating the Gray Host in Western Skyrim and the Reach in 2E 588 in order to protect the north and his own birth Clan from death and destruction in the wake of the Harrowstorms and fulfill his duty as the original Clan's "Guardian protector".
Alekt’s right side and leg were severely injured while battling the Gray Host’s leaders, and concentrated exposure to the Dark Heart energies impeded his normally supernatural healing, leaving him with chronic pain and a limp on his right side, for which his Clan's healers have not yet been able to find a cure.
The Branch Clan also lent its support to the Nozarga conflict, where Reach, Nords, and Orcs alike banded together against a powerful and dangerous cult to Malacath, often using their stealth specialties to gather information and infiltrate critical enemy locations ahead of the main attack force. It was during this conflict that the Kråke and Clan Stonebreaker first became allies.
It was after both the Gray Host and Nozarga conflicts that Ard Caddach offered the Clan an empty residence within Markarth's city walls, not too far from Understone Keep, in order to keep Alekt's Clan and their usefulness close at hand. Initially, Alekt was reluctant to accept it, as he and his Clan planned to return to mercenary work abroad, but after some discussion and a bit of blackmail on the Ard's part, decided to accept the offer. It was along with this that Alekt and his Clan also started to become known as "agents" of the Ard, as well as liaisons between Markarth and Solitude, since they had good relations with Jarl Svana.
Finding the Dwarven-carved residence too big for their own uses with their small branch Clan, Alekt decided to convert it into one half residence, and one half Temple to Nocturnal, which has seem some level of success in receiving curious visitors and devouts of Nocturnal alike.
After Alekt's second-in-command, Reno, brought fresh intel to his attention regarding the search for the Ambitions and the Longhouse Emperors, Ard Caddach tried to order him and his Clan to further investigate into the matter. Alekt originally intended on refusing, until Nocturnal herself bade them to travel to Blackwood in order to retrieve one of her stolen artifacts, the Shade Sickle, to be returned to her shrine there, which Alekt saw as a more pressing and convincing reason to go.
Once in Blackwood, Alekt put priority on the Shade Sickle first and foremost, working together with his Clanmates to retrieve it. As it happened, they crossed paths again with Dannoch and the Stonebreakers, helping them with a conflict against the Waking Flame for a short time, before investigating further into the matter of the Ambitions and the Longhouse Emperors as Ard Caddach requested, though he and half the Clan returned to Markarth after three of the Ambitions had been located, while the other half continued the mission there.
Presently, Alekt resides in the north, between three different locations in Markarth, Solitude, and the Pale respectively.
